Japanese Swords

Some of the swords on this site will have battle marks on the back of the sword. Some may have small cuts where another blade has clashed with it.

You could send some of these blades to Japan for a full polish and papers. Personally, I like to leave them. To me they are part of the history of the sword and the Samurai who used it. I can imagine many Samurai talking about how they got these marks on their swords. Always remember that every time a sword is polished you risk losing it. Some eBay sword sellers will say the sword will look good with a polish. Don't be fooled. Most of the blades have had their last polish and if you try to polish them they could be lost forever. If its not broken, don't try and fix it, or seek advise from a recognised expert.
